Family Promise of Delaware County
Recycle Rides -
Keenan Auto Body, an ABRA corp, along with Recycle Rides gifted a 2009 Nissan Rogue to Family Promise of Delaware County.
Recycled Rides is a unique program in which insurers, collision repairers, paint suppliers, parts vendors and others collaborate to repair and donate vehicles to deserving individuals and service organizations in local communities throughout the country.
Almost 1,000 vehicles have been donated through the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program since its inception in 2007. Thanks to the efforts of many NABC members, the program’s ripple effect has made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of individuals who have received vehicles or benefited through the services provided by nonprofit organizations who have been recipients of Recycled Rides
Family Promise of Delaware County received the Charity of the Game Award from Philadelphia Insurance and the Philadelphia Union Soccer Team.
On April 27, 2016 TCF held its 15th annual Recognition Reception at the Springhaven Club in Wallingford. As part of the evening's festivities, the foundation honored 14 local high school seniors who are the recipients of awards totaling almost $100,000 in college scholarships.
Each year, TCF recognizes members of the community who exemplify the core values of TCF with 3 special awards. This year's awardees were:
Extraordinary Philanthropist of the Year - Robert M. Barbacane
Extraordinary Organization of the Year - Family Promise of Delaware County
Community Impact Award - Vest-A-Cop, in recognition of its commitment to outfitting Delaware County officers with bulletproof vests
Primary sponsors of the event included PNC Bank, Alliance Cancer Specialists, TD Bank, Tycor Benefit Administrators, Joe Martin Landscaping, Wawa, and Merves Amon Barsz, LLC. In addition, the Wilbur C. and Betty Lea Henderson Foundation sponsored all five of the TCF Scholars who have planned to enter the field of nursing.
TCF President Kurt Slenn sums up the central theme of the evening: "TCF Scholarships create opportunity for our students and inspire hope in our health care community. By identifying the cream of the local crop who are pursuing a career in the Allied Health field and then awarding significant funding, the Taylor Community Foundation makes the communities of Delaware County a healthier location for all of our neighbors. We are so very grateful to all of the donors who help turn these young dreams into realities."
